Mountain View hasn't had much luck against Red Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Toros will challenge the Mountain Lions at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mountain View sitting on nine straight wins and Red Mountain on 11.
Mountain View took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Corona del Sol, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Toros had just enough and edged out the Aztecs 3-1.

Daniella Gloria was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Red Mountain got the win against Shadow Ridge on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Mountain Lions, who have now won eight matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Like Mountain View, Red Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendall Cochran. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Cochran has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Red Mountain got a massive performance out of Payton Westra, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Kayla Jones was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Mountain View's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Red Mountain, their record is now 11-3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Mountain View hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Red Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mountain View might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Red Mountain in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Toros avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
