Baseball Recap: Revere Wins Going Away Against St. John

Revere got themselves on the board against St. John on Saturday, but St. John never followed suit. They blew past the Fighting Herald 12-0. Fans of the Minutemen have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Kelby Hosbach tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anden Bender, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Bender is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Geoffrey Siess, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Revere always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. John only posted an OBP of .235.

Revere pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season. As for St. John, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Coming up, Revere will face off against Aurora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Revere their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. John, they will be playing at home against Moniteau at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
