South Amboy is 0-10 against Dunellen since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The South Amboy Governors will head out on the road to take on the Dunellen Destroyers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Amboy posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East Brunswick 40-11 on the road.
Meanwhile, Dunellen got the win against Piscataway Vo-Tech on Wednesday by a conclusive 50-30. That's two games straight that Dunellen has won by exactly 20 points.
Dunellen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wendy Woll, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Woll hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sophie Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
South Amboy's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Dunellen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
South Amboy ended up a good deal behind Dunellen in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 36-22. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Woll, who scored 20 points along with five steals and three blocks.
