There's no place like home for the North Pitt Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They snuck past SouthWest Edgecombe with a 61-55 win on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
North Pitt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamarcus Pippens, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Pippens continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tobias Roberson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the defeat, SouthWest Edgecombe saw an underclassman step up: Justin Bridgers scored 19 points along with seven blocks. Bridgers has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Brown, who scored ten points.
North Pitt's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Ayden - Grifton the next time they take the court. North Pitt will host Ayden - Grifton at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while SouthWest Edgecombe will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
