Baseball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Wyoming Area's Winning Streak

Wyoming Area dropped their record down to 9-7 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 5-1 to the Holy Redeemer Royals. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Holy Redeemer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Holy Redeemer's part, Cody Quaglia made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Quaglia has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Cisney, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Gordon was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

While Wyoming Area had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
