The Pioneer Panthers will square off against the Caston Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Pioneer didn't have quite enough to beat Knox and fell 4-3.
Averi Layer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Beasy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Caston). They blew past Argos 20-3 on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Natalie Warner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Caston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Caston, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Pioneer hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Caston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Pioneer was able to grind out a solid win over Caston in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 5-2. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
