Softball Recap: Lennox Academy Wins Going Away Against Marymount

Lennox Academy hadn't done well against Marymount recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Sailors with a sharp 16-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Valeria Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michel Estrada, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Valerie Lozano-Prado, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lennox Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marymount only managed six hits.

Lennox Academy pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Marymount, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lennox Academy will head out to challenge Brentwood School at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Marymount, they will square off against Flintridge Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
