The Dawson School Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 57-42 bruising from SkyView Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dawson School in their matchups with SkyView Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Dawson School's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Peter Ernst, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds, and Isaiah Tu who scored 14 points. Tu continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derek Krug, who scored six points along with two steals.
SkyView Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Dove out in front who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Dove is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jesus Aguirre was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Dawson School's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-7. As for SkyView Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Dawson School and Denver Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Denver Academy is ranked 197th, while Dawson School is ranked 216th). As for SkyView Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Dayspring Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
