The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Whitko didn't have quite enough to beat Rochester on Thursday and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Whitko sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 15-25, 25-11, 24-26, 15-13.
South Bend Riley will need to focus on slowing down Meredith Hindbaugh, one of several Whitko players who made an impact when they last played. She had 13 kills, 11 digs, three aces, and one block. Hindbaugh is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Watmough, who had 13 digs, five kills, three aces, and one block.
Whitko now has a losing record of 13-14. As for South Bend Riley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-27.
South Bend Riley couldn't quite get it done against Whitko in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can South Bend Riley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
