Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Calhoun Sandcrabs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 55-20 loss at the hands of the Wolves on Friday. Calhoun's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Calhoun lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayce Campos. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Davenport was led to victory by Emmet Greiman and Triston Hamlin. Greiman picked up 89 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Hamlin threw for 336 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Greiman set a new season high mark in catches with nine.
Calhoun's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Davenport, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Calhoun does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Davenport will square off against Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chapel Hill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Davenport in Texas (Chapel Hill is ranked 39th, while Davenport is ranked 146th).
