Lifegate Christian is 2-8 against Annapolis Christian Academy since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lifegate Christian Falcons' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Annapolis Christian Academy Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th.
Lifegate Christian pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 89-61 loss at the hands of Sunnybrook Christian. While losing is never fun, Lifegate Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1188th, while Sunnybrook Christian is ranked 431st).
Meanwhile, Annapolis Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past School of the Woods with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 11 to 3 on the offensive boards, as Annapolis Christian Academy did.
Annapolis Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Gwaltney, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Gwaltney is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Guzman, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Lifegate Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Annapolis Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Lifegate Christian was taken down by Annapolis Christian Academy 80-39 when the teams last played on January 5th. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lifegate Christian was down 42-18.
