Two dominant forwards in Malachi King and Nic Book are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Harrison Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Westfield Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Harrison pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Logansport. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Harrison came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Berries are ranked 271st).
Despite the loss, Harrison had strong showings from Jeffrey Williams, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds, and Ray Gibson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Gibson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Cain, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Westfield's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Fishers by a score of 51-49.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Trey Buchanan, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Book, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Harrison has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-2.
Harrison came up short against the Shamrocks when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 48-42. Thankfully for Harrison, Alex Romack (who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
