The Cocke County Fighting Cocks pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 75-59 fall against Morristown-Hamblen West. If Cocke County was looking for revenge after losing 67-62 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the loss, Cocke County still got an impressive performance from Ethan Fine, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Fine continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Raeshon Palmer, who scored 12 points along with eight steals.
Even though they lost, Cocke County were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 20 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Cocke County's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cocke County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Northview Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Smoky Bears at 7:30 p.m. Sevier County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Trojans in Tennessee (the Smoky Bears are ranked 43rd, while the Trojans are ranked 130th).
