Denver West came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy Lions with points to spare, taking the game 61-43. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Lions are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Denver West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaheim Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. Taylor is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Parker, who posted 15 points along with six boards and three steals.

Denver West was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy only posted three assists.

Despite the loss, Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy still got an impressive performance from Jackson Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy is 2-1 when Taylor posts eight or more boards, but 1-10 otherwise. Prince-Michael Combs was another key player, putting up five points and four steals.

Denver West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Denver West will head out on the road to face off against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
