This season hasn't been kind to The Blackhawk Cougars, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 45-13 defeat at the hands of Montour on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Blackhawk in their matchups with Montour: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Blackhawk lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maurice Watson-Trent. Despite the final result, he rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Watson-Trent's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
Montour's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Wolfe, who threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Halajcio, who gained 80 total yards and three touchdowns.
Blackhawk's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Central Valley and 6-3 West Allegheny (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.4% over those games). As for Montour, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Blackhawk will head out on the road to face off against Montour at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Montour is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Blackhawk in Pennsylvania (Montour is ranked 37th, while Blackhawk is ranked 373rd). As for Montour, they will look to defend their home field against Blackhawk at 1:45 p.m.
