Johnstown extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 7-10. They fell 11-8 to the Mayfield Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 two weeks ago.
Maddy Kraemer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Emma Valik was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Mayfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.
On Mayfield's side, Chloe Jandik made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Jandik was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Cabella VanNostrand-Pratt looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Mayfield got a big performance out of Aubrey Byrns, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Byrns a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dana Taggart, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
