The Pettisville Blackbirds are taking a road trip to challenge the Stryker Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pettisville has four straight victories, Stryker has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Pettisville got the win against North Central by a conclusive 11-2. Considering the Blackbirds have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Macy Hoylman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Naomi Richer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jalyssa Molina, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Pettisville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Stryker scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Hamilton, falling 18-6.
Stryker saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addalee Fulk, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Abby Fulk also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Pettisville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Stryker, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Stryker's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pettisville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. It's a different story for Stryker, though, as they've only averaged .156. Will they be able to contain Pettisville's hitters?
Pettisville came out on top in a nail-biter against Stryker in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackbirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
