The Santa Rita Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Morenci, falling 62-27. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santa Rita in their matchups with Morenci: they've now lost five in a row.
Morenci's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rozlyn Funari, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elena Leonard, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Santa Rita's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Morenci, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Rita will challenge Tombstone at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morenci, they will head out on the road to square off against Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
