3A Region 3 recap October 22, 2013
Hoxie added to the longest winning streak in 3A Region 3 this week by beating Manila, 48-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Rivercrest led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Piggott. Marquez Chew threw for 59 yards and ran for 104 yards in the win.
The Colts' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Chew contributed 104 yards. Cecil Langston helped Rivercrest's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 18 yards.
Chew put up the best numbers in passing as Rivercrest defeated the Mohawks.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Kelly Chandler's team's Chew and Kani Turner have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-9 quarterback Chew has thrown for 280 yards this season, while Turner has 12 catches for 268 yards. Bradley Stephens from Piggott leads the league in rushing with 551 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region 3 this week will be when Corning takes on Hoxie. At the moment, the Bobcats are in fifth, while Jeremy Parmer's team is in first.
Corning made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,501 from 12,910. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-8 victory over Osceola last week.
