West Clermont has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Walnut Hills Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, West Clermont was beaten by Winton Woods 70-40. West Clermont has not had much luck with Winton Woods recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rayshawn Hubbard, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Cameron Strause, who scored three points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Walnut Hills, who are still winless after their fifth game. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kings on Friday. While losing is never fun, Walnut Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 736th, while Kings is ranked 307th).
West Clermont's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Walnut Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-5.
West Clermont lost to Walnut Hills on the road by a decisive 70-51 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can West Clermont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
