After a string of four wins, the Ovid-Elsie Marauders's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 44-34 to Williamston. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ovid-Elsie has scored all season.
Ovid-Elsie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braeden Tokar, who scored ten points. Ava Bates was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Ovid-Elsie's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Williamston, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ovid-Elsie will take on the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockbridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Marauders are ranked 35th). Williamston will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th.
