Two dominant in Clayton Jones and Issac Pratt are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Thornton Trojans will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Conifer Lobos at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Thornton and five for Conifer.
Thornton suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-55 walloping at the hands of Aurora Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The losing side was boosted by Jones, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kainoa Miller, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Conifer took a serious blow against Wheat Ridge on Friday, falling 77-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Conifer in their matchups with Wheat Ridge: they've now lost nine in a row.
Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Conifer, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Things could have been worse for Thornton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-47 loss to Conifer in their previous matchup back in January of 2023.
