Roxana gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Jersey Panthers by a score of 30-18. Roxana found their leader in sophomore Mekhi Shorter, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Roxana's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roxana will challenge Red Bud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jersey, they will face off against Freeburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
