The Granger Lancers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 81-57 walloping at the hands of Kearns. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Granger still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Granger lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daudi Aweyso. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points. Aweyso continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Stephen Kpaleh was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three blocks.
Anywan Kuang was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds for Kearns. Kuang also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Ivan Kaufusi, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Granger's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Kearns, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granger's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Kearns, they will face off against the Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Park City is ranked 110th, while the Cougars are ranked 101st).
