Lovington is 2-8 against the Bulldogs since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lovington Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Artesia Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lovington was handed a three-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Lobos on Monday. Lovington put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 74-49 win.
Zadrick Betancourt was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Thompson jr, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Artesia scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Santa Teresa as Artesia made off with a 81-59 victory.
Lovington's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Artesia, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Lovington came up short against the Bulldogs when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 51-38. Can Lovington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
