Softball Recap: Maple Shade Sets Scoring Season-High Against Willingboro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maple Shade). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Willingboro Chimeras a 27-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Chimeras: they've now won nine in a row.

Mackenzie Myers was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Madeline Sylvia and Melayna Bowman did most of the damage at the plate: Sylvia went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Bowman went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Bowman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alivia Diebert, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Maple Shade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maple Shade pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Willingboro, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
