The Telfair County Trojans fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rodriquez Clay, who scored 26 points. That was a full 44.1% of Telfair County's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Mclaughlin, who scored 16 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jeff Davis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Jackson, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was A.J. Hunt, who scored 16 points.
Telfair County has fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 3-8. As for Jeff Davis, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season.
Telfair County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wilcox County at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Wilcox County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
