Key West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Hialeah 15-0. The Conchs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brianna Brenner looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Key West let Kaleya Cervantes and Arianna Garcia run wild. Cervantes went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Garcia went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Cervantes a new career-high. Maciee Gage was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Key West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lourdes Academy beat TERRA Environmental 8-4 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Lourdes Academy.
Mia Rivera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jianna Bustamante, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Valeria Portuondo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Key West's record is now 13-9. As for Lourdes Academy, their record now sits at 11-5.
