The Salem Lions's six-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top against North Harrison by a score of 32-24. That looming 32-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Salem yet this season.
Despite the defeat, North Harrison saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Brown scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sydney Smith, who scored two points along with three steals.
Salem's victory ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9. As for North Harrison, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Floyd Central at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th. Floyd Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Salem in Indiana (Floyd Central is ranked 116th, while Salem is ranked 316th). As for North Harrison, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trinity Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday.
