The Ellenville Blue Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 86-63 margin over Mount Academy. Ellenville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Ellenville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mathew Vanmatre out in front who scored 18 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vanmatre has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Duvaun Douglas, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Mount Academy had strong showings from Jake Maendel, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Dennis Hofer, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Maendel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Meier, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
The victory (which was Ellenville's seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1. As for Mount Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Onteora the next time they take the court. Ellenville will host Onteora at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, while Mount Academy will host them at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
