Carlisle hasn't had much luck against Red Lion recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Carlisle will head out on the road to take on Red Lion at 12:00 p.m. Carlisle has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Carlisle is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Gettysburg. One positive for the Thundering Herd, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Lucas Ream led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Sober, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Carlisle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Red Lion was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell 4-1 to Eastern York.
Ben Martin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Red Lion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Steven Bowman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Carlisle's record is now 0-4. As for Red Lion, their record is now 2-2.
Carlisle suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Red Lion when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Can Carlisle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
