It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the West Seneca West Warhawks ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Amherst Central with a 64-58 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
West Seneca West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Gunnells out in front who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Gunnells continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ecker, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for West Seneca West and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for Amherst Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
West Seneca West will head out on the road to challenge Hamburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Amherst Central, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Starpoint at 7:00 p.m. Starpoint will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
