Frankton is a perfect 7-0 against Wapahani since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Frankton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Frankton was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Elwood on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Panthers. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Zoey Coppess was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Coppess was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aly Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aubree Engelking, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Frankton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wapahani came up short against Cowan on Thursday, falling 14-2.
Briley Kahalekomo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Journey Mains also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Frankton pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Wapahani, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Wapahani's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Frankton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Wapahani, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Frankton keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
Frankton was able to grind out a solid win over Wapahani in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, winning 7-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
