On Friday Tahoma take on Kentlake at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close match.
Tahoma had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out Auburn 19-17. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
Meanwhile, Kentlake gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Friday. They had enough points to win and then some against Kentridge, taking their game 32-14. The score was all tied up at the break, but Kentlake was the better team in the second half.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. In their victory, Tahoma relied heavily on senior Max Repenn, who picked up 177 yards on the ground and caught passes for 53 yards; a key strategy for Kentlake will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
