Baseball Recap: Alden Wins Going Away Against Holland

Alden barely beat Holland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Dutchmen with a sharp 24-5 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Brody Peresan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. Peresan was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Josh Kruk was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Steven Syracuse, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Alden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Alden has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Holland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Alden will be playing in front of their home fans against East Aurora at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Holland, they will take on Cleveland Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Dutchmen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
