Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Stony Point's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Stony Point had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Round Rock Westwood on Tuesday. The Stony Point Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Round Rock Westwood Warriors a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Tigers have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kali Winner was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Another player making a difference was La'Nya Woods, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Stony Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive games.

Stony Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Round Rock Westwood has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stony Point will host Hutto at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Hutto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Round Rock Westwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Round Rock Westwood is facing Manor at the right time seeing as Manor is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
