Silver is on a four-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Socorro a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Silver Fighting Colts will take on the Socorro Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Silver is ranked 104th, while Socorro is ranked 111th).
Silver scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down Lordsburg 60-42. That 60-42 margin sets a new team best for Silver this season.
Silver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kianna Murillo, who scored 12 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Murillo grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliana Kirker, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Socorro suffered a rough 61-38 defeat at the hands of Belen on Tuesday.
The victory got Silver back to even at 2-2. As for Socorro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Silver strolled past Socorro when the teams last played back in January by a score of 49-30. Will Silver repeat their success, or does Socorro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
