Having just played yesterday, the Jacksonville Golden Eagles will get right back to it and host the Ashville Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Jacksonville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully Ashville likes a good challenge.
Jacksonville pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to White Plains. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Jacksonville came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while White Plains is ranked 130th).
Jacksonville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aaron Nixon, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds, and KyDric Fisher who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fisher has scored all season. Jaquan Ervin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Ashville posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Etowah 55-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ashville.
Jacksonville's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6. As for Ashville, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.
Everything came up roses for Jacksonville against Ashville when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as the team secured a 109-49 victory. Will Jacksonville repeat their success, or does Ashville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
