The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They took down Archbishop Bergan 53-39. For Bancroft-Rosalie, this counts as revenge for the 63-33 loss Archbishop Bergan walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Bancroft-Rosalie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samryn Dick, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison James, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Archbishop Bergan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Summer Bojanski, who scored five points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Peyton Langhorst, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Bancroft-Rosalie's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Archbishop Bergan, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bancroft-Rosalie will take on Omaha Nation at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Nation will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Bancroft-Rosalie is ranked 26th). Archbishop Bergan and Roncalli Catholic will face off at 7:45 p.m. on December 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Roncalli Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
