Mansfield is 0-10 against the Panthers and Pantherettes since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mansfield Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mansfield has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while the Panthers and Pantherettes will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Mansfield, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-29 loss to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Mansfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Eagles are ranked 77th).
Meanwhile, Duncanville put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Waxahachie, posting a 78-40 victory at home.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Duncanville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Clayton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Clayton hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Coleman, who scored 19 points along with seven steals.
Mansfield's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-19. As for Duncanville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season.
Mansfield took a serious blow against the Panthers and Pantherettes in their previous meeting back in January, falling 74-33. Can Mansfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
