The Murray Spartans lost against the Cyprus Pirates back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Murray lost to Cyprus on the road by a decisive 59-43 margin. Murray has struggled against Cyprus recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Murray still got an impressive performance from Mia Auclaire, who scored 22 points. Auclaire scored a full 51.2% of Murray's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Scherbel, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Cyprus was led to victory by Tamila Francis and Amelia Echternkamp. Francis scored 14 points along with 3 steals, while Echternkamp scored 25 points along with 3 steals.
Murray's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cyprus, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murray will take on Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Kearns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Tuesday. As for Cyprus, they will head out on the road to face off against Grantsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
