The Northwestern Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Catawba Ridge, falling 71-31. Northwestern has struggled against Catawba Ridge recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Northwestern still got an impressive performance from Jalyn Jones, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Morgan Davis was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds for Catawba Ridge. Davis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Cunningham, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Northwestern's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Catawba Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-15 record this season.
Northwestern will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lancaster at 6:15 p.m. Hopefully Lancaster focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Catawba Ridge, they will head out on the road to challenge South Pointe at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Pointe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Catawba Ridge likes a good challenge.
