It was a good run, but the Brandon Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-33 walloping at the hands of Starkville. Brandon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Starkville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Starkville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tootie Lockett out in front who scored 19 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals. The match was Lockett's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Gay, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Brandon's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Starkville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Brandon will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Harrison Central at 3:30 p.m. Harrison Central's defense has only allowed 19.5 points per game this season, so Brandon's offense will have their work cut out for Brandon. Starkville will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on New Hope at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st.
