Madison Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Clinton Arrows at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Madison Central rose to the challenge on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Golden Wave 2-1.
Madison Central was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Akala Jacobs and
Mary frances Bourg, who scored both of Madison Central's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 19 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Clinton faced Oxford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Clinton was the clear victor by a 4-0 margin over Oxford. Clinton's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
Madison Central's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-0-2. As for Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 13-4-3.
Madison Central beat Clinton by a goal in their previous matchup back in January, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison Central since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
