The Charlotte Christian Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Charlotte Latin Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Charlotte Christian faced Providence Day in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Charlotte Christian was beaten by Providence Day 47-13. Charlotte Christian was down 34-7 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Charlotte Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ryan Henley, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown, and Christian Vann who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Charlotte Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Bryce Young and his two sacks.
Charlotte Latin might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 21-7 to Charlotte Country Day School, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, Charlotte Latin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Charlotte Country Day School is ranked 123rd).
Despite the loss, Charlotte Latin saw an underclassman step up: Troy Logan threw for 210 yards and a touchdown.
Charlotte Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. Charlotte Latin has not been sharp this season, as they've lost six of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 2-6 record this season.
Charlotte Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Charlotte Latin in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, winning 35-27. Will Charlotte Christian repeat their success, or does Charlotte Latin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
