There's no place like home for the Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-51 victory over Winside on Tuesday. This was payback for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, who suffered a 44-31 loss the last time these two teams met.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Braden Hardin out in front who scored 15 points along with eight assists. That's the first time this season that Hardin posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Talan Mock, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Winside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaden Hunt. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Schutt, who scored 12 points.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Winside, they bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast and Madison will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th at. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. Winside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Osmond/Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th.
