Kossuth put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season on Friday. They made easy work of Mantachie and carried off a 41-12 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Kossuth as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
The match started off well for Kossuth, whose offense put up 27 first-half points. Mantachie countered with 12 points, leaving the score at 27-12 going into the half. The Kossuth defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest.
Among those leading the charge for Kossuth was senior Matthew Bobo, who rushed for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Bobo's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past three games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Hunter Eaton, who racked up nine tackles. The win bumped Kossuth's record up to 4-5. Mantachie are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-9.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week Kossuth take on Belmont at 7:00 PM. As for Mantachie, they will face off against Booneville. Mantachie stagger into the game hobbled by nine consecutive losses while Booneville skip in buoyed by eight consecutive wins.
