Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mifflin County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Kauffman, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Those 175 rushing yards gave Kauffman a new career-high. Lucas Hartung also helped with two scores in total.
Mifflin County's run defense was locked in: Gettysburg could only muster 2.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Gavin Herrington for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mifflin County's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.
Mifflin County's defense didn't let Grant Johnson, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Herrington, Kane Pecht, and Jayden Smith, who each picked up one sack apiece. Herrington was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Red Land earned a 22-13 victory over Palmyra on Friday. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Cougars are ranked 303rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win made it two in a row for Red Land and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Mifflin County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Mifflin County skirted past Red Land 21-18 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Patriots' Brady Seyler, who rushed for 157 yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Huskies to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
