On Thursday, the Hurricane Tigers faced the Mountain Crest Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hurricane lost to Mountain Crest on the road by a decisive 60-42 margin. Hurricane has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hurricane's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quinn Gubler, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayleb Jackman, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 blocks.
Hurricane struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only a offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mountain Crest pulled down ten.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Crest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Arnell, who scored 15 points. The contest was Arnell's third in a row with at least ten points. Joseph Hunsaker was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Hurricane's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mountain Crest, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Hurricane will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Ridgeline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. As for Mountain Crest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Home at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
