Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Green Hope). They walked away with a 76-67 victory over the Eastern Randolph Wildcats on Thursday.
Green Hope was led to victory by Kody Frey and Knox Frey. Kody posted 28 points along with six assists and four steals, while Knox went 9 of 18 en route to 23 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Dean, who had eight points.
They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Green Hope was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern Randolph only racked up nine assists.
Eastern Randolph lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Julian Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. Those 14 boards gave Brooks a new career-high. Tyler Gee was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points.
Green Hope now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Eastern Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Green Hope wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-50 win against Lee County on the 27th. As for Eastern Randolph, they will face off against Asheboro at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
